21 april: denver.
it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. i scored a desk for the new office, managed to not eat 14 brownies at the back porch bbq yesterday, and tom branen sent me a video he shot of "I will come for you." the falcon ridge tour is coming up very soon, and i'm zipping off across the country on sunday.

10 april: denver
after all that promising that i would check in more often, i'm lagging behind again. sorry. big life changes, you wouldn't imagine!

anywhoo, biggest news to report now is that the new DVD (Guitar for TOTAL Beginners) is being shipped to me today - i'll send out an update when it's done. The method is pretty exciting, and really does get beginners playing in no time flat.

oh, and the falcon ridge preview tour is shaping up very nicely. 23 dates all over the Northeast, all of May. it's going to be great. i've pasted them in below.

it's warmer here than in alaska. much. i miss it, though. alaska was a lot of fun. for once i went on a tour with two suitcases and came back with one. the alaskans ravaged "the beast," which is my nickname for the 70-pound keyboard case full of merchandise i take to all my gigs now. i brought it back full of clothes, with all the cds and books and dvds sold. not bad for ten days - thank you, alaskans. day after tomorrow emily kurn and i take off for memphis.

unto us a new song is born - it's called "for all." it pretty well came out like a burst of magma last week after stewing over one of the lines for 24 hours. then david tweaked and polished for an hour and we were done. my buddies zach singer and alex reichline recorded it for me this afternoon at star guitar studios in west hills CA.

"Liberty" is the courage - on a bus in '55
for a strong, strong woman to say she's tired.

"Liberty" is the strength to stand right in harm's way,
declaring: "I have a dream that there will come a day…"

Our country needs us now - needs a reason to stand tall:
"Liberty" must be for all.

"Justice" is the vision asking "can we live in peace?"
from a man who's just been beaten by the police.

"Justice" is the winner when all our votes are cast
and there's a black man in the White House at last.

Our country needs us now - needs a reason to stand tall:
"…with liberty and justice for all."

12 january 2008.
see? i'm writing more. like more than once every few months. i've even updated the tour page. i'm mellowing out this week at mark radcliffe's place in santa monica while he's in new york. i've pretty well trashed the place. nah, I'm taking care of it and cleaning up after myself, spending mornings doing asana classes at this great yoga studio nearby.

oh, and i just found out yesterday that i'm going to be on fox news in anchorage in two weeks. see, i knew there was some redeeming characteristic of rupert murdoch.

happy new year from whereisrandall-land! plenty of new year's resolutions here, including quitting griping to you about how busy things are. as a self-employed musician, busy is good. so i'll write more often, promise.

it was a very full year, indeed. i just took ten days off in mexico for some much needed rest and relaxation. i wrote a bunch of songs, spoke spanish every day, and walked around the port town of san felipe. it was great soul food. gearing up now for another year full of activity - and another 36,000 road miles, at least. next tour stops: san diego, los angeles, anchorage!

forgive me for being such a deadbeat. there's sooooo much good news going on, and it's ridiculously busy around here. for starters, the new hal lenonard books on the capo and the partial capo are out - hit the store link to see them or order a dozen for all your friends. AND i was an audience favorite at falcon ridge folk festival this year, so I'll be on the main stage next year - woo, hoo!

randall's on NPR all over the country this week! go to the art of the song website and find a station near you or any one of 120 stations that offer streaming! It's a very cool interview about the creative process, and features a tip of the hat to carrie newcomer and david wilcox.

5 march 2007
exciting news: my new CD, "one night in louisiana" is off the presses this week and will ship soon. It's a very well-recorded live show, full of new tidbits and some throwbacks to the conservatory. besides english, there are tracks in italian, estonian, and japanese. don't worry, lyrics are included.

more exciting news: the new kyser partial capo DVD is out. The release party will be this coming sunday at club passim in boston. i'll sit in in the afternoon and support david wilcox's songwriting workshop, and we'll have DVDs for sale and sampler CDs to give away.

7 february 2007
yay! www.whereisrandall.com version 5.0 is live, thanks to my buddy ken burke. it's the first time that somebody else has done my site for me, and it's great to have the help.

24 january 2007
very cool news! my podcast with jeff tveraas is up today!
see www.austinconnection.net. it was good fun to record this with jeff and it's a fun little look at a couple of my songs and the partial capo stuff i do.

21 january 2007
you're not going to believe who i got to meet today - bootsy collins! i've never ghermed anyone before, but bootsy was something special.

15 january 2007
lots of good news these days. for starters, my touring situation has improved dramatically with the purchase of a dodge sprinter that i've rigged up to handle my 36,000-mile touring schedule. it's like a boat, only with wheels. plan is to convert it soon to run on waste veggie oil.
